Short story final draft

Sebastian laid stiffly on the treatment couch of the radiation therapy machine as the nurse prepped for his session. He could feel the exhaust weighing down his muscles from the constant sessions and physical therapy the doctors put him through; but he couldn’t let his guard down entirely around them-not just yet. “Okay Mr. Solace, go ahead and relax for me, I’m going to go to the other room to start the machine, and the session will be over in a matter of minutes.” The nurse pulled him from his thoughts with her soothing voice, to which he gave a singular awkward nod. It was the same thing the medical professionals said every time, but it did anything but help him relax.  Subconsciously he began picking at his claws as the nurse left the room, flinching a bit when the machine started once a minute or two had passed. As the seconds ticked by his eyelids began to feel heavier, his blinks were slower, and he struggled to hold back a yawn that threatened to come through. He re...

Gulliver’s travels perceptive writing

Image
Summary:  After obtaining his freedom, Gulliver requested to see Milendo, the capital of Lilliput. The Lilliputians were ordered to stay inside for their safety and they all watch Gulliver walk through their streets through their windows. The city is in the shape of a square with 500 feet long walls surrounding it, and can hold 500,000 people. The emperor wants Gulliver to see his palace in the center of the city, so Gulliver has to cut down trees to make himself a stool in order to see things from a shorter distance rather than standing. About 2 weeks later a government official, Reldresal, comes to see him. He tells Gulliver that a rebel group and a foreign empire threaten the kingdom. The rebel group exists because the kingdom is divided into two sides, the Tramecksan and the Slamecksan, by which they are distinguishable by the heights of their heels. Reldresal tells Gulliver that the current emperor has chosen to employ primarily Slamecksan, the low heels, in his administ...

The dinner party perspective writing

Image
Summary:  It takes place in Ind ia where a colonial official and his wife are giving a large dinner party with many important guests - including a visiting American naturalist - in their large dining room. The dining room was very nice looking and had  glass doors opening to a veranda. A debate springs between a young girl and a colonel on whether or not women have grown out of “jumping-on-a-chair-at-the-sight-of-a-mouse era”. The American naturalist doesn't engage, instead noticing a strange expression on the face of the hostess. She was staring straight ahead with tense muscles. She calls over the native boy behind her seat and whispers in his ear. The boy grows shocked at what she said and quickly leaves the room. When the boy returns with a bowl of milk and sets it out on the veranda. The American remembers that in India, a bowl of milk is used as bait for snakes, and realizes that there must be a snake somewhere. He looked around the room for any sight of it but co...

Flagpole write-in

I never really paid attention to the flagpole, I’ve been near it and I’ve hung out around it but I’ve never took a good look at it, especially without the flag. It’s very nice flagpole. I have never quite seen a flag pole like this one. It gradually gets smaller towards the top and has a circular cap over the top of the pole. It reminds me of a drumstick with how it is shaped, which is very funny to me and both my friend and I laughed at that comparison.

Athletic field write-in

Around two years ago the athletic field that I was familiar with looked old and worn. Now, the athletic field was redone and it looks fresh and brand new. I’m fairly familiar with the field having spent a lot of time out there hanging out with my best friend during our gym class, and I can’t help but feel a bit of nostalgia standing in the middle of the field. We’re much older now and haven’t had any reason to go back out onto the field since we got our gym credits. My memories out in that field with my best friend were some of the best ones I have, and I suppose now the younger generation that is coming in after us can experience the same thing that we did.

Library balcony write-in

The library balcony is a lot more underwhelming than I thought it would be. The carpet on the floor below makes it a little trippy but not that scary. It’s like they throw a bunch of junk up here to make the rest of the library look clean. It does seem very peaceful, so I could understand why some kids come up here to do their work, but I personally wouldn’t want to. At least, not after looking up here for the first time. Apparently, this place used to be a gym, and the rooms up top were the weight rooms. No matter how hard I look at it, I just cannot see it. I mean, what kind of gym is on the 2 nd floor? And what kind of gym has weight rooms up the stairs?
